Currently-March 2017 Edition

Welcome to my March edition of “Currently” where I share with you the current happenings and little moments of our family life. This serves as a journal of sorts that will be fun to look back on and remember bits and pieces of what we were experiencing at the time. I did some of these posts awhile ago and want to get back in the habit this year to help me record monthly moments.

Hoping

for spring since I’m completely over the cold wind, the freezing rain, the dead grass and bundling up my kids five times a day when they want to go in the backyard.

Listening

to the Moana soundtrack and the Barbie soundtrack on Spotify. We went to the theater as a family to see Moana and we have been borrowing barbie movies from the library so there is a continuous stream of girly music and spontaneous dance parties in our house.  Waiting

for my newest Usborne book purchase. I now have multiple people I know who are consultants and it’s been fun to attend Facebook book parties in the last few months. They are fantastic children’s books and if you need a book lady, I can totally refer you to one 😉

Thankful

that the tulips I planted last fall are coming up! I put up a post about it and the significance of these blooms on Instagram. It’s recapped below:

{Spring is budding} I planted tulip bulbs in the fall in memory of the baby we lost last year to an ectopic pregnancy. I was not completely sure they would even come up due to my compete lack of gardening skills. Yet the other day we went outside to see these healthy green stems suddenly spouting out of the mud. They came up when we weren’t even looking. These tulips serve as a reminder that there is new life after death and grief.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more.” Revelation 21:4

Sometimes, God sends little blessings and joys into our lives when we are not even looking. All we have to do is look in the right place to find the beautiful blooms peeking out of the dirt at our feet.

Latest Little Feats

Heather learned how to pump her legs and swing all be herself in the back yard, she can go as high as the swing will let her! Stella is learning how to dress herself. Her clothes may be on inside out and backward most of the time but she is so proud of herself. “I did it, mommy!” And they made the first and last snowman of the winter with Daddy. They were so excited about his carrot nose and hat. They named him Olaf, of course.

Thankful 

for the cheap bunk beds we found to replace the cramped toddler beds in the girls’ room. It’s so much nicer to have big beds for them to stretch out in. Their room has transformed from a baby room to a little girl’s room this past month with the new beds.

Crafting

cotton-ball snowmen with my daughters. They wanted to do a craft so I pulled out what I had in the craft drawer and we put these little masterpieces together with glue, glitter and popsicle sticks. I drew the circles for the snowmen’s bodies and the kids did the rest.

Teaching

Stella how to get herself dressed (which means her clothes are often on inside out and backwards) and Heather how to memorize words in a book. She is reading her All about Me Usborne book from memory and hopefully the letters and words are sticking in her little mind. Both girls enjoy practicing tracing and saying the letters of the alphabet with this fun preschool printable packet.

Working on

printing out and putting together a planning binder for myself to help me keep better track of to-do lists, blogging goals and personal goals. I have all these items in digital documents but since I spend so much time on the computer, it seems like a welcome change to have paper and pen under my fingers some of the time instead of the constant feel of keyboard and mouse. I’m hoping that having the separate materials will help me be more productive and focused. I’ve started using a prayer journal this year and that has made a world of difference for me and my prayer life. so now I’m moving into the paper planner realm for organizing everything else I do daily.

Eating

Popcorn mixed with mint m&ms and melted white chocolate. I made it for St. Patrick’s day and a week later, it is still delicious! Get the simple and fast recipe here.

Trying

to keep the little ones entertained through the cabin fever by breaking up our stay at home time with trips to the library, play dates, indoor playgrounds and mall visits to ride the carousel.

Organizing

our pictures and home videos from the past year. Between my phone and my husband’s phone, we rack up a ton of footage from life’s many cute and memorable moments with our little family. Once our memory cards get full, we do camera dumps onto the computer and then I go through and sort the photos in folders according to year, season, and event, then back them up on our home server that my computer genius husband has all set up. It is such a blessing to be married to a computer programmer and tec expert!

Currently March 2017 Edition

Hope your March “goes out like a lamb” as the famous saying goes. Here’s to spring blossoms and lengthening days!
