My Mother’s Day Week in Review [5/13/16]


Remembering

Mother’s Day weekend and the fun we had picnicking with friends, wading in a lake, climbing a “mountain” according to my two-year-old, playing Settlers of Cantan, visiting family and riding go karts on the farm. My three year old mustered up the courage to ride one for the first time and then she didn’t want to get off for the rest of the afternoon!

Pondering

how many barbies have drowned in the baby pool and approximately how much baby pool water has soaked into the carpet and been dripped on my kitchen table this past week.

Hoping

that the index finger I smashed in the door two days ago heals quickly and stops hurting soon so I can get back to feeling productive.

Enjoying

the Mother’s Day coffee and beautiful greeting card from my mother and the lovely pink and yellow flowers from my husband.

Wondering

how to survive potty training two kids at the same time and keep up with the laundry from the potty accidents and the baby pool soaking.

Praying

for my brother and sister-in-law as they prepare for the birth of their first child and all those I know who have special prayer requests.

Congratulating

those I know who are graduating from college this weekend, particularly my sister-in-law and my brother-in-law’s girlfriend. Enjoy the school-free adult world of careers and family life ladies!

Waiting

for my online packages  to arrive! New wall decor for our remodeled bathroom coming from Amazon and new matching summer dresses for my daughters coming from Zulily! (Two of my favorite places to shop, by the way).

Thankful 

that my younger daughter is initiating potty training  and  learning quicker than our first potty training go-around,  and that my older daughter sleeps through the night so that Mommy and Daddy’s bed only has to to make room for one extra occupant. (Yes, my two year old still likes to cuddle in the big bed in the middle of the night, and we are still trying to figure out how to sleep through her sprawling).

Relieved

that I caught my older daughter right before she started feeding a stack of my scrapbook pictures to the neighbors’ chickens and glad that our neighbors have chickens to give my kids another source of entertainment.

Survived

a two-hour tornado and 24-hour flash flood warning! My girls get sick of the basement awfully fast when they have to stay down there, we did lots of snacking and water coloring painting to pass the time. Praying for all those affected by the Midwest storms this week.

Mother's Day Week

Pleased

that I got my newest article for CatholicMom.com sent off for editing just in the nick of time with literally minutes to spare until the deadline. I didn’t even realize how close it was until I had sent it off…..but God works! It should be up on the website this coming Tuesday, May 17th.

Posted

about my Mother’s Day reflection to my children, celebrating all that my daughters are and about the quote that inspired me during a long weary week of potty training, wet clothes changing, finger smashing, laundry folding and meal scrounging. Happy Mother’s Day to me with all the joys and hardships that come with it!

Missing

our basement roommate, live-in babysitter, and beloved Aunt! She left this week for her summer adventure out at Catholic Familyland. We have had a little voice asking multiple times: “Where is Jenny? Where is she?”

Planning

my weekend, including playgroup for tomorrow (stay tuned for a possible post about it next week), and coordinating babysitters so my husband and I can sneak away to a baseball game and dinner after church on Sunday. TGIF!

That about wraps up my lovely little week, how was yours?
