Wednesday Wisdom [5/4/16]

Wednesday Wisdom with lovely little lives

It’s a discouraging political year for anyone in this country who still holds onto traditional and conservative values. As a simple stay-at-home mom, I do not pretend to know very much about the political world or can predict what is going to happen in this election year or the years after.

All I know is that at the end of the day,  those who wish the country was headed in a different direction or those who are satisfied with the direction the country is headed, all have one thing in common.

We all have to go on living.

We have to go on working or looking for work. We have to go on being students and teachers. We have to go on paying the bills, raising our children, taking care of our homes, helping those in need. If we are doing our best to raise our children well, work hard, cultivate our talents, pray for guidance for ourselves and our country, and live out our values in everyday life, then we can be proud of ourselves and the family that gathers around our dinner table.

At least that is what I am going to focus on. Because when it comes down to it, the only thing I can really truly influence/change is what is going on in my life, in my home, and at my dinner table.

You’re so right. We can control the things under our roof and love our children wholeheartedly. Thanks for the perfectly timed reminder!

    • Thanks. I love that this was said by Ronald Reagan and that the quote wording plays off the Trump slogan “Make America Great Again.” Greatness begins at home and in the family, not through the government. Something to keep things in perspective anyway. 🙂

  • This is very true. Family dinners–the conversations that occur over family dinners–are so influential. We really can make a difference with these.

    • Yes and for someone like me, an ordinary mom who doesn’t have much political influence, I take great comfort in this idea. Raising up a good family and lots of prayer has been my focus. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!
